EYE CREAM

Insecurity. UGH. we all have the dark clouds and voices telling us why and who we are as individuals is not enough. Everyone experiences insecurity at different periods in life (puberty, growing older, pregnancy, weight gain, weight loss). I know what’s it’s like to feel inferior to others and insecure about myself. I grew up in a very unstable environment and never really felt safe and secure throughout my childhood and early teen years. Being an industry where you are scrutinized constantly for being too thin, too fat, not the right hair, not the perfect silhouette. DARE i even say i was told my nail beds were off, (EYE-ROLL) the voices get at you, and not even from others perhaps. I think my own worst critic was, well, me. One of my biggest problems I felt so insecure was my under eyes. The late nights, early mornings, early call times, partying, then on to motherhood. I felt so ashamed to look in the mirror and kept glasses on most of the time along with i thick layer of concealer to hide under. I was chained to my sunnies.
About a year ago I was in St. Tropez where I ran into a super model i had always looked up to and admired so much. In pictures she was breathe taking. I’ve watched her walk for the biggest fashion shows and strut for Victorias Secret for the last five years. We were all swimming and nobody had make up on. She looked at me with the biggest smile, and introduced herself. I was shocked because there, the woman I worshiped and adored, had what looked nothing short of raccoon eyes. Dark black circles and a smile covered her face. WAS THIS REAL LIFE. She is living her life working, modeling, social lite and has dark circles too?! It was nice to see face to face that she was infact human, and even with flaws still happy as could be. I decided I would invest in a great eye cream and serum to prevent and correct, instead of hide and conceal. They say the eyes are the windows to your soul. Then and there I ditched my makeup, my concealer and opted great eye cream and to smile more.

Summer is here and nothing makes you feel sexier than feeling confident in your own skin. Traveling, saltwater and sun exposure can leave your skin feeling down and out. Here are some of my all time favorite tips to get that healthy smooth glow.

1.Catch up on ZzZz….
The key to not looking tired…not being tired! Getting a good nights rest-seven to nine hours a night-and your skin will look and feel great. Try using lavender oil on your temples and behind your ears to help soothe you to sleep. Drink a glass of water and gently massage coconut oil around your eyes to help with under eye bags. But remember that sleep offers the kind of results that no cream can mimic. Trust me!

2.Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate
Water is absolutely essential to having that glow. I usually drink 8oz. every hour or so. Try adding fresh squeezed lemon, frozen melon or grapefruit with mint into a big glass of water! I also love having warm lemon water with cayane pepper and a dollop of honey to get things moving. Vitamin C-rich foods, such as oranges, may help prevent wrinkles, too. For a test, take a selfie for 3 days up your water intake to 3L of water, on day 3 take another selfie! You will see a massive difference.
3. Exercise
A good workout doesn’t just burn calories, it also helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your skin. By increasing blood flow, exercise helps nourish skin cells and keep them vital. It helps overall with stress, sleep, and being toned!
4.Facials
Get a facial or give yourself one at home. I’m a big beliver in professional facials oto get all your pore cleaned out, instant results in having exfoliation, mask and professional tools will make such a difference. If not, try one at home as well. I love using a gentle enzyme peel followed with a mud or hydrating mask. After you cleanse use a great toner my favorite (here) and moisture! Tip to remember (always think lightest (serum) to heaviest creams to layer and lock in product.
5. Cup of Tea
white or green tea, both of which can do wonders for your complexion. In addition to adding a blast of hydration to your skin cells, tea may also assist with antiaging.
6. Exfoliate
Is KEY! try using coconut oil mixed with coffee grounds ( all natural and cheap) I love dry brushing (here) body gloves, or brown sugar with olive oil.
7.No Makeup-Go Bare!
less is more, nothing is sexier and heathier for your skin than going sans makeup! Let it breathe.
8. Moisture
I love lotion. No, really—like, I love love it. Every single night, I slather moisturizer all over my body and face! My favorite body cream is La Mer, and for something more natural I will opt for coconut oil! Truly nothing is better than using coconut oil after a full body exfoliator. Smooth baby smooth!
9.Sunscreen
I wear 30 SPF everyday. Be sure to grab one that says broad spectrum to help prevent skin cancer, wrinkles and sunburn. To get a summer tan try and organic spray tan or I really love St. Tropez foam with the mist!  Oh, and don’t even think about going to the tanning bed.
10. Happiness
They say, “No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart” Nothing looks more beautiful on you. Keep a positive spirit, good heart, and willingness to do good and be great to humanity. SMILE! Neurotransmitters called endorphins are released when you smile. Endorphins make us feel happier and less stressed.

Dry Brushing

1. Stimulate Your Lymphatic System

In your body, your lymphatic system is the system responsible for eliminating cellular waste products. Hundreds of miles of lymphatic tubules allow waste to be collected from your tissues and transported to your blood for elimination, a process referred to as lymphatic drainage.

When your lymphatic system is not working properly, waste and toxins can build up and make you sick. Lymphatic congestion is a major factor leading to inflammation and disease. By stimulating your lymphatic system and helping it release toxins, dry skin brushing is a powerful detoxification aid.

2. Exfoliation

Dry skin brushing removes dead dry skin, improving appearance, clearing your clogged pores, and allowing your skin to “breathe.”

3. Increase Circulation

When you dry brush your skin, it increases circulation to your skin, which encourages the elimination of metabolic waste.

4. Reduce Cellulite

Dry skin brushing may help to soften hard fat deposits below the skin while distributing fat deposits more evenly. This may help to diminish the appearance of cellulite.

Dry brushing is also said to help reduce cellulite by removing toxins that may break down connective tissue, although some believe the effect is temporary (and mostly a result of skin become more plump and swollen after brushing).1 The Huffington Post reported:2

When we’d heard dry skin brushing was an effective method for reducing cellulite, we knew we had to include it in our anti-cellulite road test. Sure enough, it was indeed one of the more successful ways to smooth away less-than-perfect spots on your legs.”

5. Stress Relief

The act of dry brushing has been described as meditative (especially if you do it in a quiet space) and may reduce muscle tension, calm your mind, and relieve stress. Many compare it to a light whole-body massage.

6. Improve Digestion and Kidney Function

Dry skin brushing may go even deeper, helping to support your digestion and organ function. According to one skin care and spa expert:3

“…many naturopathic doctors use dry brushing to help with bloating because massaging the lymph nodes helps the body shed excess water and toxins. One of the immediate effects of dry brushing is smoother skin, but it can also help improve digestion, kidney function, and more.”

7. It’s Invigorating

Many people become “addicted” to dry skin brushing (in a good way) because it simply feels so good. Along with glowing and tighter skin, regular dry skin brushers report feeling invigorated after a quick session.

Have you tried dry brushing? This is a great way to get skin prepped for summer. I ordered my dry brush from amazon however places like whole foods and target will carry great brushes.  I love using body oils as well after!
